Are the usb ports not working, or is it the mp3 player that
is not working. Are other usb devices not working?
If the usb ports aren't working then the same thing happened to me.
There are two things that you can try (with xp)
1) Go into device manager and try rolling back your drivers for
your universal serial bus controllers.
2) If that doesn't work. try uninstalling those drivers then
click on "scan for hardware" changes. This should automatically
reinstall those drivers that you just deleted.
This is what worked for me. I would suggest doing this one device at
a time. Not all at once.
