USB splitter device: does it exist?

Hello,

I am looking for a USB device that will take a signal, say from a USB
mouse,
and be able to split the signal so that it plugs into 2 separate USB
hosts (laptop & computer) so that both of them can see the mouse and
capture its mouse clicks. I am pretty sure you can't just split them
in parallel. A hub probably wouldn't work, but maybe there is a
special type of hub. The USB device I'm trying to split is a HID
mouse.

Any help or ideas are very much appreciated.

Sorry, but I don't believe such a device exists. May I ask what you
are using it for? Maybe there is an alternative solution to your
needs.

Maybe a cheap KVM switch might do the trick. (KVM=Keyboard Video Mouse)
Allows you to use 1 keyboard, 1 monitor and 1 mouse to work on 2 or more
different computers. But only 1 system can be use at a time if i'm right..
Hope this helps

We need to broadcast a USB signal (say a mouse) so that two separate
computers receive the same signal. What we are really most interested
in is the mouse button being registered on both computers, not
necessarily the movement. Are the Cypress USB controllers capable of
multiple outputs or broadcasting a usb signal path to 2 devices? We
cannot use a KVM switch or equivalent as we have to simultaneously
have the 2 signals active.

You could dissect two mice, and then put two button switches in one
mouse. Or hook up wires from both mice to the same switch. I'm not
sure about the details on this, but it might be made to work.
