I have a Dell E510 running Windows XP Home SP2. My monitor is a Dell
1907FP, using DVI cable.

Let's say in the future I decide to get a bigger, widescreen monitor.
Perhaps the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP. Would I need to make any changes to my
computer's display settings, and/or change the video driver? Or would
Windows automatically adjust my display settings to handle the widescreen
format?

You'll need to do that yourself...the 2407 runs at 1920x1200.

half an answer.............

what resolution is your graphics card capable of............that's the max
you will be able to run a monitor at.

I don't think there's any video card with DVI output that can't handle
that resolution. Especially a card in a new Dell.

That's easy enough. I just don't like tinkering with the video
driver.

I have no idea. My video card specs: 256MB ATI Hyper Memory
PCI-Express X 16 Radeon X600 SE.

According to ATI, that card has a max 2D/3D resolution of 2048x1536@85 Hz.
And the Dell you are looking at runs native 1920x1200 @ 60 Hz? So it should
easliy handle that resolution.
