Vectra VEi8 Desktop question

I have a problem with my Vectra VEi8 desktop. When I go to power it
on, it repeats load long beeps. I went to the HP website and tried to
run the diag tools, like pressing on the power button for 6 seconds
and counting how many times it beeps. But it just shuts down when I
hold down the power button.

I have the same systems at my job, so I popped out a spare processor
and I replaced it, and I still have the same issue. I have removed the
memory, PCI cards, ISA cards, and any other cables to rule them out,
and it still happens.

The only two culprits left are the power supply or the motherboard.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Chris

How many beeps?

What hardware had you added/changed prior to this, if any?

It just keeps going. They are long beeps.

The last item I added was a CD-R drive. But that was a long time ago.

There's a document on hp.com that decodes the beep pattern for the VEi8. There's typically a sequence of some sort.

To find it I typed "VEi8 and beeps" in the search area.
