Video card problem

Hi everyone. Please forgive me if I come off sounding like a newbie as
this is my first dealing with a home built computer. Recently a friend
of mine had built me a computer running the windows media center 2005
OS. Everything had been running smoothly until I had realized that my
NVIDIA 6600 MSI video card was overheating and needed to be returned.
While waiting for a replacement I had to use my ASUS K8S-MX on board
video. In order to avoid all the blue screens I removed all of the
Nvidia drivers that had been installed on my computer. Once I had
recieved and installed the new video card along with what I believe are
the correct drivers I noticed everything would run smooth; that is
until I needed to play any sort of game or video which would cause my
computer to completely freeze up within 5 minutes. I have tried
installing and reinstalling my drivers but to no avail. I also noticed
that even my screensavers began to flicker. I would ask my friend for
help exept he is unreachable at this time. Any help anyone would be
able to provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HI Carl,
I had the same problem as you. I had my local computer shop check
out my problem and it ended up being the power supply. I had a 450watt
psu before and have upgraded to a 650watt and all works fine now.
Your card takes about 300watts on full system settings so a
450watt psu is not going to be left with much power to run the rest of
the computer.
