I have been up to recently a very happy Gigabyte user.

My present board is GA K8NF 9 board

It runs great under winxp.

But I really would like to upgrade now to Vista as all my other hardware has
drivers for Vista

Well everything but my Gigabyte motherboard.

Does anyone know when or even if Gigabyte will release drivers for this
board for Vista?

Anyone know why there is still no drivers or do I not need drivers for this
board. Are drivers for this board containted in Vista?

Look to the chipset manufacturers for news on that kind of thing.

I did a month ago and am still waiting to hear back from them.

Anyways what brand other than Gigabyte do you all reccemmend to buy in the
future since Gigabyte does not care about it's customers?

I haven't even had this board 2 years and it is already obsolete due to
gigabyte not releasing drivers for the new mainstay operating system.

I have the GA-965P-DS3. This was the only board anywhere that had the specs
I wanted. I have not been dissapointed. If I didn't get the Gigabyte I
would probably have bought an Intel. However, the installation disk that
came with my board is not Vista compatible. But it did boot right up with a
SATAII HD and DVD. Seems to be working OK.

Gigabyte don't write drivers, Intel, AMD, JMicron, Marvell, etc do.

Then MS charges them plenty to get certified for their OSes.

Are you saying it works okay with vista and if so did vista find all your
USB ports and firewire ports?

That is what I am wondering about. I want to buy Vista next week but only if
I can use it with all my computer hardware recognized..

My board does not have a Firewire port. But the USB ports are OK. My
requirements needed COM and LPT ports, plus only one PCI-E X16 graphics
slot. I needed more useable expansion slots and not two graphics card
slots. The whole system operates perfectly. Note it was a 'clean' install!
I would worry about upgrading from XP based upon various reports. Also, I
have had problems with external hardware working with Vista. Driver
problems from the manufacturers. Check your manufacturers web sites for
drivers. Vista does have a compatibility to XP option. Right click on the
EXE, select PROPERTIES, COMPATIBILITY, then select XP. You might get lucky.

I have drivers for my epson printer and ATI video card. I have an AMD dual
core system so I am getting the 64 bit windows premium package.

I do plan to reformat the hard drive when I install. Actually I read you
have to do a clean install to do 64 bit anyway.

I'll be picking up Vista next friday on payday.
