Hi,
I successfully installed a new HP LaserJet 3050 via USB on a Dell Windows XP
computer, and can both print and fax from it. We'll call this Computer A.
There are several other Windows XP computers on a hardwired network (simple
Workgroup setup), and I want to be able to send faxes from those other
computers, through the LJ 3050.
I went to the Properties of the fax printer of the LJ3050 on Computer A (as
opposed to the regular printer, as both are listed and accessed separately),
clicked on Sharing, and enabled this printer to be shared on the network,
designating a name I could easily recognize on the others.
I went to Computer B, "Add Printer" selecting the Network option, and found
the previously shared LJ3050 Fax printer listed. I selected that, and it
said it was installing drivers, and then completed successfully.
The problem is that when I try to send a fax from Computer B, the dialogue
box where you enter the fax number and other info comes up on the monitor of
Computer A, not Computer B! I tried updating the driver on Computer B,
allowing it to find it on the same CD I used to install on Computer A, but
this didn't work.
What do I have to do to enable Computer B to send faxes via the LJ3050 which
is connected to Computer A, and have the software and dialogue box come up
on Computer B?
If I were to go through the same CD software install that I did on Computer
A, I would think it couldn't complete, because it would be looking for it on
a USB connection.
Any suggestions or explanations greatly appreciated.
