Just recently, and I wish I knew the exact date so I could go back and
pinpoint what might have happened, I've been having this weird issue
with my monitor when the Optiplex GX270 comes out of Standby mode.
I've got a Dell P992, 19 inch monitor, I use the official Dell drivers
for this monitor, I have an ATI Radeon X1600 Pro to power it. Normally
I have the monitor set to 1024X768 and a refresh rate of 90hz. I put
the computer to "sleep"(Standby) whenever I got to sleep, or just
leave the house for an extended period of time.
When waking the computer up lately, the monitor refresh rate drops
down to 60hz, not only that, but the 10 refresh rates listed
previously in the Monitor Control Panel have dropped down to *3*.
It'll tell me it's still on 90hz, but it's 60hz. To fix it, I have to
go into My Computer, go into the Device Manager, Uninstall the P992
Monitor, then re-install it. This is the *only* way I can get all the
refresh rates to show back up in the Monitor Control Panel, and switch
it back to 90hz.
I have tried deleting the driver and re-downloading it from Dell, and
then re-installing it. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the
ATI Catalyst drivers, nothing seems to work. Again, it just started
pulling this a while back. Before this, it'd come out of Standby to
the refresh rate I had it at when I put it to Standby.
I have no idea what the deal is, but if anyone has any suggestions I
would appreciate it to no end.
