Weird mouse behavior

Running WinXP Home, the mouse is doing some weird stuff. Hold down
left button and drag to select a section of text - when the button is
released, the highlight disappears, so there's no way to copy or print
just the selection. Any idea why this might be happening? Thanks!

Does this happen in certain applications, i.e. MS Word, or does it happen no
matter what program or application you are using?

Seems to happen anywhere, including in IE.

Just downloaded and installed an updated intellimouse driver from MS,
maybe that'll cure this (although I didn't have any problem until the
last couple weeks - not sure what system changes might have caused
this...)

I have a similar problem too. My double click function works and more
often does not work.

I will look for an update too.

Is it a wireless mouse? If so, try resetting it (pushing the "connect"
buttons on the bottom of the mouse and remote). If you have a wireless
keyboard do the same to it. It sounds like your computer thinks a key
(possibly SHIFT?) is being depressed. This can sometimes happen if the
wireless signal gets interrupted in between the time you press and release
the key. Also, make sure the "Sticky Keys" feature was not turned on by
mistake:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...bruary/le1.asp. If it
is, turn it off (press Shift key five times in a row).

So far the update appears to have mostly solved the problem. Couple
instances of weird stuff, but it's behaving a lot better now. Here's
the link for the download page: http://tinyurl.com/uh97
