I have the option of using an existing A8N-SLI DELUXE or a new A8N5X with a
AMD Opteron 1.8. I would really welcome input on which board you would use.
I'm not a gamer....I don't overclock "much" and just want a speedy, smooth
and reliable box.

Thanks in advance,

zorro

Dear Zorro,

comparison:

http://usa.asus.com/products_compare..._model=375,596

Both have the dreaded Asus A8N chipset fan....

Sounds like the A8N5X is newer....but, has the more basic Nforce4
chipset....

If both are in excellent condition: would recommend the A8N-SLI, as it
has more features, and, being SLI capable, would assume it is engineered
a bit better....the A8N5X is the budget model....and, one that I have
has had problems with dual channel memory configuration.....

Also would recommend replacing the chipset fan with a passive cooler
like the Zalman NB-47
