I am looking at two 3.6GHz Intel P4 processors with 800MHz FSB, but although
they look to be the same, they are numbered 640 & 641. Also, one is 90nm and
the other is 65nm. I have no idea what these numbers mean, so could someone
explain them to me? Aren't these two processors the same? Which one should I
pick to fit into an Asrock motherboard 775V88? How might I tell the
difference between them if bought in local pc shop?

TIA.
Joe.

Get the 641, not the 640. The 641 should have the NX-bit security
feature on it, while the 640 won't. Likely the 641 also has a larger L2
cache, but I'm not certain.

Hi All,

Just wait; In Jan. 6xx will take over current 5xx price (and 6xx will be
reintroduced! ) Only take xx0 or xx5 (like 630/640) when using
i915Chipset based Board, for i945/965/975 wou'll better take xx1/xx6
(like 631/641)
