Win95 + HP Deskjet 5550 problem

I have a printing problem with a Dell G1 Optiplex running Windows95,
printing to a new Hp deskjet 5550. After Several successful print
jobs, a communication error appears with resulting continous printouts
of garbled text. I have tried cables, bios settings, printer settings
and even tried another pc to rule out the paralell port. I would
welcome any suggestions.

Have you tried connecting the printer to your USB port? Also you
might try and reinstall the drivers for the printer.
