Hey everyone,
I just got a good deal on a video card and 1gb of ddr400 memory. I
purchased Gigabyte mb Gigabyte GA-7N400-L (fsb 400/333/266). I guess I'm
wondering if I can get away with saving some additional money by going with
the athlon xp 2500 (with the 333fsb) instead of the xp 3000+(with the 400mhz
fsb). Will I run into any compatability issues with the 333mhz fsb on the
2500+ with the ddr400? Obviously, I'm extremely new, so any help would be
greatly appreciated!

You won't have any problems the 400mhz ram will just run fine at 333mhz.

Hi, however the XP2500 should also run fine at 400mhz, 200 x 11, thus
achieving the same speed as a XP3200....

The best way is to speed up your FSB to 200MHz or if it is not possilble to
slow down the memory to 333 and change CL from 2.5 to 2.
There is no point in running ram in asynchronious mode becouse it slows
down the system!

well it depends on mobo - I have GB VT600 and it doesn't allow me to speed
up fsb to 200 even thoug it suports this fsb

can the motherboard not just run the memory @ 400 and the fsb @ 333??

I can do this on my MSI K7N2-Delta (nforce2) with 2500+ Barton & 3200 DDR

Yeah, I was kind of curious if anyone was running their system without
making any modifications (overclocking fsb/underclocking memory). I'd be
curious to see if you slowed down your memory settings (as Kacza described
above) if it would make any difference in system performance.
