Now that my new Dell Dimension 8300 is working fine, I'd like to be
brave and format the hard disk and reinstall Windows 98 on my 5
year-old XPS R450. In the past five years I have added a Yamaha CD
Burner, more memory, a new mouse and a new keyboard. While installing
the Yamaha, I disconnected a ZIP drive which I never used. I know I
have to unplug the printer and scanner and camera. I have a few
questions I hope someone can answer.
Does the Yamaha CD Burner present any problems? Can it remain
connected during the Win98 install?
Is there a particular order in which to install the drivers and new
devices software?
I have all of the original disks and have made a new boot disk with CD
Rom Support, and I have read Dell's Knowledge Base for every relevant
document, printing out the vital info. I am in the process of backing
up every little detail of my system. This is a daunting challenge for
me but I feel confident that I can accomplish it, just need a little
extra advice. If anyone has any further suggestions or tips, I'd
appreciate it.
Thank you in advance,
Marjie
