Does anyone know if the internall PLL on an Intel 80486 can be
    by-passed or disabled?

I want to single step using an externally controlled clock without the
    PLL.

    Thanks,
    Wayne

  2. Is everything in that CPU static? Otherwise it won't work below a
certain speed. In any case I think the first answer is no. I seem to
remember hardware which allowed that, but the 486 was a long time ago
for me, it might have been 386.
