Man...I generally try to refrain from offering unsolicited and
unhelpful advice, but sometimes I fail.

making due with that old Super 7 board for so long, you deserve to
give a Christmas present to yourself. ;-)

I'll even make your decision easier with some recommendations. Aren't
you the one (Job60) who remarked several times about the benefits of
using a good ATX power supply and case with the VA-503+? Great! Then
you shouldn't need a new chassis or PS, just mainboard and CPU. The
following mainboards should accept your current SDRAM just fine, with
    an upgrade path to DDR-RAM:

    1.) ASUS P4S533-MX: SIS 651/962L Chipset, mPGA478 for 400~533FSB
    P4/CEL up to 3.06+GHz (PCB 2.00 and later support H.T.), 2 x 184-pin
    DDR-RAM (PC2700/PC2100/PC1600) or 2 x 168-pin SDRAM (PC133/PC100) for
    2GB MAX, 3 PCI, 1 AGP Slot (AGP2.0), On-Board USB2.0/Audio/LAN/SIS
    Real-256 2D/3D Graphics.

    Asus Link:

Currently $58.99 shipped from Newegg.com. Add a Boxed Intel 1.7GHz
    Celeron for $54.00 shipped = $112.99.

    2.) ASRock P4I45G: Intel 845G chipset, mPGA478 for 400~533FSB P4/CEL
    up to 3.2GHz (support H.T.), 2 x 184-pin DDR-RAM
    (PC2700/PC2100/PC1600) or 2 x 168-pin SDRAM (PC133/PC100) for 2GB MAX,
    3 PCI, 1 AGP Slot (AGP2.0), On-Board USB2.0/Audio/LAN/Intel Extreme

    ASRock link:

    Currently $58.00 from Z-buy.com. Add a Boxed Intel 1.7GHz for $55.00
    = $122 shipped.

    3.) ECS K7S5A Pro: SIS 735 Chipset, SKT-A/462 for 200~266FSB
    AthlonXP/Duron up to XP2600+ (266FSB), 2 x 184-pin DDR-RAM
    (PC2700/PC2100/PC1600) or 2 x 168-pin SDRAM (PC133/PC100) for 1GB MAX,
    5 PCI, 1 AGP Slot (AGP2.0), On-Board USB2.0/Audio/LAN.

    ECS link:

Currently $38.00 shipped from Newegg.com. Add an OEM Duron 1.4GHz for
$36.00, plus $15.00 allowance for decent CPU HSF = $89.00!

Can't shake a stick at those deals (whatever that means). :p

The 503+ is kinda my back up system.
I am currently using my ABIT K-G7-Raid
    with an XP2400 and 512 DDR2700
    Nvidia MX440se dual head
    dual Maxtor 6 Y060L0 60gig drives in raid-0
mild overclock of 144FSB for like 2131MHZ
But cant seem to mothball the old box

Good for you Job60 a fine MB is the 503+ even with an AT power supply.
Though I would like a complete list of advantages to go to an AXT one.

  5. It could be the graphics card itself. Have you tried the graphics card in your
other computer, or the MX 440SE from your other computer in the VA-503+?

  6. Hi, you are overclocking, try and run the cpu at 450Mhz bet the problem goes

My guess would be the video card. I had a 503+ a while back (about
four systems ago) and mine was doing the same. Color shifts,
artifacts, and fuzziness, worked okay after a reboot, then random
faults again. Bought a $20 16mb card and it was fixed.
