I am having this sound and i dont know where it comes from, the power supply or the mainboard but it comes from a electronic component. Before I had an Abit KR7A-R and everything was ok (whith the same memory, hd, etc). Could the board be damaged ? Thanks.

That is probably a buzzing coil somewhere, most likely in the PSU. Which processor did you have before, and which one do you have now? And which PSU?

The PSU might be stressed to the limit with your new processor.

Antec Truepower 430 W. I had a 1800 XP before and a PIV 2.6 C now. The PSU should be enought.

I agree, but if the PSU makes that noise, I would consider it as (slightly) defect. If it is not within warranty anymore, I would open it, pull out my glue-gun and put a little on each coil.

any chance you have a noisy Northbridge cooler? the little high speed (7K RPM) fan near the CPU socket?

No, as Hansen said the noise comes from the PSU. I found this on Abit forums:
http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10633&highlight=coils Ill try another PSU and memory. Ill tell you what happens. Thanks.

good luck getting it sorted. I'm using an Antec TruePower True480 with no issues here on an IC7-G

Why don't you boot up with the side off and you can see & hear where the noise is coming from first maybe. Just be careful where you stick your fingers with all the moving fans. It could be any of this things people have said .. my hunch that it is a NB fan .. but there are so many moving fans in such in a computer it's hard to tell.

I have found Antec Support to be excellent.

No noise with an old Sparkle PSU (235 W). The problem is that i broke the warranty label to clean the fans so i think i must buy another one.
