I've got an old KT7A (I think ver1.2). Which processors are still around that are unlocked and I can just pop them into the motherboard? I don't want to mess about with the pins/bridges. Which bios is the best for the old KT7A?

And here's a ques that probably hasn't been asked before - let's say I get an unlocked new CPU will I be able to UNderclock the chip as well as overclock it? My unlocked 1.2GHZ Athlon I've got in my machine now I've been running as low as 550Mhz and as high as 1.45ghz. I only up the speed when I play games etc the other times I'm working so my machine has to be as silent as possible.

TIA

Bios=A9
CPU=2100+, 2200+ (MUST be B cores), 2400+, 2600+ 266FSB model, and 3000+333FSB model. Any other cpu that has a default multiplier of 13 or higher (in case I missed one).

I can set mine form 1500MHz to 2400MHz, so yes.

I've run mine with the cpu fan completely off using lvcool, even clocked at 2000MHz. Lower vcore and the multiplier and you should be able to do that even without vcool.

Thanks for this info, Wes.
Looks like the 2400+ is the best choice for me.Is there more than one flavour of 2400+ or will any 2400+ CPU do? I haven't been following CPUs for a long time.

Hmmm, on your webpage it appears to say that 133A motherboards only accept one multiplier setting(17x?) so will I be locked to one speed? Or was this a restriction of older Bioses?
