Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help me. I built this pc about a year and a half ago and every once in a while it will freeze up on me and the mouse and keyboard will not respond. It is locking up almost every day now. Nothing works except rebooting with the reset button. I found a thread somewhere where one person said to disable the "Cool and Quiet" setting in the BIOS so I tried it and it made no difference. Here's what I have: Box: Antec TX1050B - Box w/500W PS 120mm fan in back 80mm fan in front http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=61050 MB: Abit AN8 nVidia Socket 939 ATX CPU: AMD A64 X2 4600+ 2.4G 939 1M R Video card: MSI GeForce 6600 256MB, PCI Express NX6600-TD256E Audio card: M-Audio Delta DiO 24/96 (I disabled the embedded audio on MB) RAM: Dual Channel DDR 400 (3) 1 GB sticks Hard drives: (4) SATA direct to motherboard (2) PATA through an IDE expansion card. (3) CD/DVD drives on MB IDE slots each 3 HD "bay" has a 80mm cooling fan I'm keeping the dust down in the room as well as blowing out the box with a can of compressed air occasionally. I use AVG free edition for antivirus software. ---- OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600 OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Manufacturer NVIDIA System Model AWRDACPI System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 15 Model 43 Stepping 1 AuthenticAMD ~2411 Mhz Processor x86 Family 15 Model 43 Stepping 1 AuthenticAMD ~2411 Mhz BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG, 1/19/2006 SMBIOS Version 2.2 Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume2 Locale United States Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)" Time Zone Central Standard Time Total Physical Memory 3,072.00 MB Available Physical Memory 2.54 GB Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB Page File Space 5.84 GB Thanks for any/all help, Ken **Update** The machine just locked up while copying files from an external hard drive to an internal hard drive via usb. I guess it did not like that. Do the usb drivers need updating? Thanks again, Ken
