Guys I am still in deep trouble with this BD-7 RAID board WInXP/P4 and it's getting worse. You helped me investigate "Clunking" coming from the RAID drive but I couldn't clear it. So I decided to scrap the RAID in case one of the drives was about to fail. My Ghost backup became corrupted so I have to start from the beginning again!!

Now I cannot install the HPT-272 - 2.34 drivers - I had no problem before but now they tell me that are not a suitable upgrade from 2.32. I have installed windows with the original drivers and can go all the way up to
2.32 but no further. There is a garbled message about this in the driver text file which is incomprehensible and seemingly incredibly complicated. Any ideas? I have a 234 bios.

Also as part of it I am trying to install on a 160G drive partitioned in to 2 x 80G and once XP is installed on the primary partition it fails when formating the extended partition. Same on two drives so it is not the drive. Is this because of the old HPT driver limited disk size?

Any ideas this is a weekend and a day off from work wasted so far!!

Thanks John I

Did you try running diagnostics on the discs concerned? Did they all flag up OK?

How are you trying to update them? If you're doing it through Device Manager, you have to select Install from a specific location, and then "I will choose the driver to install". If you let the wizard search for the driver (even if you point it to the correct folder), it won't install the drivers because they're not digitally signed, and the wizard only sees signed drivers.

There's no good reason why you shouldn't be able to install them if the method above is followed. Are you sure the drivers extracted from the .zip successfully? Extract them again just to be certain.

Probably, although it's that long since I've used the really old drivers I don't remember/know what their limitations are, especially with modern disks.

TBH the easiest way to install Highpoint drivers is via F6 and a floppy disk when installing Windows. None of this peeing about with wizards and warlocks.
