HI,

Very sorry for may bad English.

My ABIT BE-6 II does not ccept Windows XP.

The installation begins and after the searching of the hardware installes, I receive a blue screen indicating that the installation cannot continue...

Do you think it is a problem of flashing the Mothercard Bios, ot anything else.

Thank for all ideas and if someone(s) experience the same situation and solved it, many thanks for help.

Bye

which version of BE6-II do you have? in other words, does it have a Highpoint 366 controller or a 370 controller? what ide channels are you connected to when trying to install the OS? if you are on the Highpoint channels, are you remembering to hit F6 to install third party drivers during the OS install?

Many thanks Tom,

My version is the HPT366. I am connected to the primary IDE channel when I try the install. What is the function (exact role) of the hitting of the third party channels" (F6) please ?

Many thanks yet.

in the event of installing the OS while you are running the drives connected to the "regular" mainboard IDE controllers, IDE 1 & 2, then the F6 is not necessary unless you had a drive mounted to the Highpoint controller that you wanted to have the OS be able to see and use during the install. if you did not hit F6, then drivers for that controller might not be loaded by the OS (depending on whether the OS has native support for the controller in question). however, after the OS is loaded, drivers can always be loaded at that time.

in your case, since you are doing this with the drives on ide 1 and/or 2, then the question becomes more specific to what is happening with the system to cause the install failure. what PCI cards are in what slots on your system? do you have the setting in the bios under PnP/PCI configuration for PnP OS set to enabled or disabled? you may want to try setting that to the opposite position from where it is currently set. also, set the Force Update ESCD to enable as well and save and reboot.

any board can BSOD. Especially if he happens to have bad caps onboard. I stayed away from mentioning the bad cap issue until he tells us a bit more information about his config...

Hello many thanks for your responses,

My config is the following :

MotherBoard ABIT BE-6 II with a PENTIUM III with Windows 98 SE, with 256 Mo of Ram, with two hard disks (14 Go IBM and 40 Go Western Digital), a DVD Player and a CD-Burner. I have one PCI sound-card (Terratec), a PCI video-card (ATI) and a SCSI card for my UMAX Scanner.

Many thanks friends.
