I have a be6 that was running great until last nite. I couldn't wake it from the screen saver. I just got a black screen. When I went to reboot I got the siren. This morning I hooked another power supply to it. That didn't solve it. I notice the little capacitors (those little round things sticking up around the cpu slot) are ever so slightly bulged on the silver part on top when I compare them to another machine. Could this be the issue? Can they be replaced? What are some other things to try? I doubt it's overheating because it does this even after the machine is well cooled. The fan on the processor seems to be working no problem. I'm probably going to pop the processor into a friend's machine to see if that's the problem. I suspect it's the mobo and these capacitors, but that's just a guess. Any help would be appreciated. Steven

the caps are likely the issue. Homie, in the US, does an excellent job and has a long track record of satisfied customers (and sheep but that is another story...)

contact him or BigBadger (in the UK) at:

...snip...

Dunno `bout that ....

I heard a lot of grumbling last I was out in that pasture ... almost total lack of 'timely & adequate' service, as "it" were.

I'd suspect hes spending too much time on his new fangled video Sodomy Station, fixing mobos.

So! Even Homie's sheep have head about you!

Wonder where or what, he's using those semi-truck loads of K-Y?

More a stituation of preferences. Would you prefer to intake the aroma of sheep dung & sheep farts, or go for the gusto & intake pungent, acrid solder flux & melted circuits?

I vote for the latter, as the former is best for intermission.

Ewe/You neglected to mention sheepie 'queefs' ...

I didnt know Homie could still do 'that' ... even assuming a "V" assist.

Good to know,
Qed.

PS- Filk that hijack threads have no scruples.
. Just 'thot' I'd add that.
. TomG, ewe listening ?? `eh ??

Hi: Thanx for the info. I'm in Canada. I'm sure it hardly makes sense to repair a board I might be able to replace used for $30 Canadian or something like that, sheep shit aside. Thanx for the suggestions though. Steven

You're missing something:

If you buy a used board for $30, to replace your existing board, what happens if the caps are bad on the replacement board, too?

Then you spent $30 and STILL need the caps fixed....

Now getting a brand new board is a different story.....

<Gibs> When you kill 6 people in Unreal Tournament
it is "MonsterKill", In Quake3 it is "Excellent",
in Counter-Strike it is "Kicked by console"
