To me it is.. lol, my first "from scratch" computer, I'd like to customize it as much as I can, kinda like a proud father. :)

Just seemed strange to me that they'd go through the trouble of including the actual EPA file in the bios without bothering to have it displayed.

Not to mention furthering my computer knowledge and experience by doing something like that... believe it or not, you CAN teach and old dog new tricks.

Oh, maybe I didn't make myself clear with earlier messages.. I want to replace the existing Logo with one of my own.. but if the bios won't display the default logo in the first place, it does no good to replace it with my logo...

It seems possible that the embedded E_Star image format is munged , and, ... that replacement with a good 'format' mite then allow "it" to show ... no ??

BTW ... what video type is in_play here ???

Qed.

Yeah............our usual US political fluff anyway. The US is the most energy wasteful country in the world. If we would all turn off the clothes dryer during the summer and hang clothes out on a line, we would save probably x100 more electrical energy than all the Energy Star computers in the US put together. Or just meticulously turning off all unused lights in the household..........

I'm using a different motherboard (Abit BD7II-RAID with the latest bios).

By default the EPA logo is turned off on mine, but if I enter the bois and go to

Advanced BIOS Features, at the bottom of the list is: "Small Logo(EPA) show" if

I turn this to Enabled then I can see the logo.

I realize I'm using different board/bois but the setup menus are most likely very

similar. Good Luck

Thanks for the luck, looks like I'm gonna need it. Unfortunately there is no option in the BIOS menu for enabling the showing of any logo.. :( (just looked again)

Try a utility called Modbin6 to enable/disable the "Small Logo(EPA) show" option.

Another utility CBROM6 may be useful for mod'ing your EPA logo.

I've never tried CBROM6 myself.

You can get both utilities at Binary's Biosmods, www.biosmods.com.

Thanks for the links Phsstpok, have already tried Modbin6... don't see any option in any of the menus there for enabling the Small Logo, or ANY logo for that matter.. And also have CBROM, know how to replace the logo with mine, but can't even get the default EPA logo (Energy Star) to show up.. so don't wanna flash my bios with MY logo until I do get it to show the default one at least.. :(

Guess I'll have to see if anybody around here has experience with modding a BIOS the hard way... LOL actual code?

Hmm, this is curious.

I found the "Small Logo(EPA) show" option with Modbin6 and added it to the BIOS setup screen.

In Modbin6 move right and down to the Advanced BIOS features, move right to the selections, move down to the EPA logo option. It's at the bottom of the list and is blacked out.

Unfortunately, even after adding the option to my BIOS setup screen I still wasn't able to get my Epox 8KTA3PRO BIOS to display the EPA logo. I'm not sure the default BIOS for my mobo has a logo to display. Guess I will have to play with CBROM as well.

Using Modbin6 I looked EVERYWHERE for any mention of a logo, didn't find anything.. :( when you say move right and down to the Advanced BIOS features, do you mean in the BIOS menu setup? When I go into that it does list some options, but nothing relating to the logo.. it displays something like:

XXXXXX-------
XXXXXXX----
---- (option)

and so forth, has a bunch of XXXXX's and ???? marks .. lol

I called ABIT the other day about it and to his knowledge they haven't disabled the display of the LOGO.. yeah, right.. LOL I know it must just be a simple FLAG setting somewhere within the BIOS, because I can extract the EPA Logo from the BIOS and view it, sure enough, it's the Energy Star Logo.. so, it's IN the BIOS... grrrrr, this is frustrating... lol
