Abit IS7 and SCSI booting issues

I've just recently purchased an Abit IS7. Upon assembling it, it worked fine with my SCSI card, an Adaptec 29160. Of course, a lot of other things didn't work (such as Windows installation on my SATA drives). That being said, I found out that updating my BIOS to 1.4 would solve this and surely enough, it did. However, after flashing the bios to 1.4, and putting in my SCSI card, my computer will not longer boot up. It will power up, but the screen will remain blank and I get the feeling nothing happens (if it was just the video, windows should boot in a bit and I should be able to shut down by pressing the power button, but such a thing didn't happen). Has anyone else experienced such a problem? Any chance on a solution? I've tried every PCI slot I have, I've flashed the BIOS and cleared the CMOS multiple times and I've tried setting the PCI add-in in Hard Disk boot to PCI device (even though I want to boot to my SATA drives). Nothing has worked.

I would greatly appreciate any help, thanks.

I have a 29160 in an IC7 at bios 1.5 and a 2944 in an IS7 with no issues but in both cases, the bios on the SCSI cards is disabled. I boot to the regular IDE channel on the IS7 and I boot to an add-in Highpoint controller on the IC7.

can you flash back to the previous version of bios and get the ability to boot back (just as a test...)?

Hmm, I've not tried flashing to a previous version but I will. How do I disable the SCSI BIOS and will that disable my SCSI drives?

Disabling the SCSI bios only makes it so that the drives do not show in a pure DOS boot. In Win98 or ME or XP or 2K, the drives are still there since the OS supplies the drivers to see the drives.

to disable the bios, you enter the Adaptec setup by hitting Control A at the prompt. then scroll to advanced settings and in there is the option to disable the bios.
