My IS7_G occasionally loosed the RAID array. I can switch off and it detects this and I can recreate it without data loss. Its more of an annoyance and curiosity because something must be wrong.

IS7-G BIOS 14
P4 3.0GHz
2x Maxtor SATA 120GB 7200rpm 8MB Cache DM9+ in RAID 0 mode TruePower 440W PSU

Is there a solution to this problem yet?

those are true, native SATA drives right? not through a serillel-2 adapter?

when this happens, you are already booted and the drives go away? are you using the newest Intel IAA drivers and SATA drivers?

They are SATA Maxtor DiamondMax 9+'s. Not via Serillel adaptor. They loose the raid at random times usually once windows is up and running. The machine will just hang, when I force a reset the machine shows that the raid is damaged, and ask whether all raid drives are present, I click yes and it boots normally.

I am using the latest drivers for the Intel and Silicon image controllers.

Hey Paul,

I don't know whether it's related or not, but I had a similar problem with my ST6R (admittedly regular PATA drives). Same symptoms though. Raid would disappear in windows locking the machine up. Eventually turned out to be a bad drive (IBM 60 GXP) even though the IBM utility was telling me the drive was fine for a while. Took some extensive drive exercising to get it to fail. Might be worth looking into.

will have to run a few instances of Sandra at the same time and see if it fails.

No failure, even whilst running 5 instances of the Sandra benchmark simultaneously. Obviously they all got very bad scores but no drive crash.

Interesting. Well that was my 5 cents.

Sorry I mis read your previous post. What is IAA?
Sorry for my ignorance.

This is not installed.
Is this the GUI version of the RAID config tool? If yes do I have to have it installed

yes it is the GUI version of the raid tool but I also had the impression, maybe wrongly, that it played a larger role with the raid than just a GUI for interfacing to the raid. could be way off...
