Since a few weeks I'm using a new PC based on:
Motherboard: Abit NF7(-S) v2.0 with chipset nVIDIA nForce2 SPP, Bios rev. 16 AMD Athlon XP, 2000 MHz (7.5 x 267) 2400+
Video: Gigabyte Maya Radeon 9000 Pro (64 Mb)
HD: Maxtor 6Y080P0 (80 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/133)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional - Service Pack 1

I installed Winbond Hardware Doctor 2.70 which is a self-diagnostic system for PC (temperature, fan speed etc.) and is linked with a Winbond chip on the motherboard. After a few days without problems, everytime the WinXP boot logo appears (before the users welcome screen) an alarm start to toll and it stops only after entering with my username + password, when the Hardware Doctor software automatically starts. If I disable Hardware Doctor from starting with the system, the alarm goes on. I don't have any alarm also if I "restart" the PC.

Should I uninstall the Hardware Doctor software?
Is there any bug here?
Any suggestion?

Try unloading hardware doctor and see. right now i'm using motherboard monitor {mbm}. If you've been fiddling with pc-health status bios menu - there is an issue if both cpu-shutdown and cpu-warning are enabled. when they're both on- the siren will sound on boot up for win2k and winxp. the new bios 17 for ver 2.0 solves this which was released a couple of days ago.

I too have experienced the same problem with enabling this in the BIOS settings. You mentioned a BIOS v.17, I could not locate this revision on Abits's website. The latest they listed was 16. Where can Rev. 17 be found? Thanks in advance for you assistance. "Mark H" wrote:
