I have an Acer Travelmate (running XP) with a Conxant AC sound setup. I was trying to install a USB webcam, but it froze up during installation. After a hardboot, I uninstalled the webcam software to start again but lost sound. I've reinstalled the drivers and hardware, but can't get sound now. Drivers all say the are working ok, but Device Manager says no playback device is present and the default list is all greyed out so I can't even look for anything to set as default. It still makes sound if I switch on the error alerts (ie I tried closing down and it beeped to alert me another user was logged on), but can't get anything to playback. Help please!
