I currently have 2X256MB PC3500 Corsair XMS installed on my NF7-S.

I want to upgrade to 1GB RAM total. I only want to buy 1 additional 512MB module.

Will 2X256 + 512 work in this config? I know I can fit 3 on there, but will there be any conflicts?

Thanks

Since you already got your answer in all the other groups you posted to, I'd just like to know how fast you can run your Corsair PC3500 in that board. I'm only getting 213MHz out of my pair of 512 modules. They passed a Memtest86 at 217 with tight timings, but I get Prime95 errors. More voltage to the CPU didn't help, and I maxed the VDIMM voltage at 2.9.

DualDDR feature will be turned off with 3 memory modules onboard

I'm currently running 2x256 PC3500 XMS modules at 220 with timings of 2-3-3-7. Voltage set to 2.8 Though I have run it at around 226 without any problems.

Prime95 stresses your CPU as well as your RAM, therefore you cannot conclude that the errors you experience in Prime95 are a result of the RAM. In my opinion, Memtest86 is the definitive tool for testing RAM stability, so I would investigate further. I would say its more likely your CPU or mobo settings than your RAM settings.

What motheroard are you using?
What CPU are you using and what speeds are you running it? What voltage? Multiplier?

That is not true. As long as there is a module in slot 1 & 3 or slot 2 & 3, the MB is in dual channel mode. With a module in all three slots, dual channel is activated. The best configuration is to have two 256MB modules in slot 1 & 2 (channel 1) and a 512MB module in slot 3 (channel 2) for a total of 1 GB of dual channel memory.

That is incorrect. Check the Nvidia website or your motherboard manual. Dual channel does work with all three slots filled.

Skid,

Can you provide a link to the correct place on the Nvidia website? I just can't find it.

The motherboard manual seems to say it supports 3 slower DIMMS (200/266/333), but only 2 of the faster DDR400.

My NF7-M Specifications Page says: (NF7 and NF7-S say the same)
4. Memory (System Memory)

Three 184-pin DIMM Sockets
Supports 3 DIMMS DDR 200/266/333 (Max. 3GB)
Supports 3 DIMMS DDR 400 (Max. 2GB)

With DDR333, my FSB would only go to 166Mhz, I bought DDR400 (2 x 256MB) memory to get 200MHz FSB. I'm very happy with the improvement, both in processing and video (I'm using onboard video). I want to add that third 512MB stick, but just want to be sure it will work.

hi,
yes, i use my nf7-s with 1x512 & xx256 mc corsair cmx 3200LL rev1.1 @ 2-2-2-6 at 200mhz and default voltages in dual-channel mode. i love this great board.
