Have installed an NF7-S with a 120 GB MAXTOR HD via an IDE flex cable. Works fine.

This HD is ATA-133 compatible.

Can I just recoonect it using the ABIT provided adapter (came with teh MB) to the SATA1 connector instead of the IDE connection ?

Would I see an imporivement in I/O speeds ?

Do I need to do anything else (utilities or whatever...)??

I don't think anyone knows for sure. Including ABIT! There is zero info on this device and its use and setup. I have been fooling with it for a week now just got it to communicate with my WD 80 but would not allow the drive to format. It would not boot from the drive after it was formatted with IDE cable. Either the adapter is bad or the board and I don't know how to determine which it is. If your successful I would like to hear about it. "ZR" wrote:

I just did it-- Windows 2000, Maxtor 80GB. Small performance gain. I had SATA disabled in bios. Enabled it, booted into Windows, it found new hardware, inserted disk, shut down, switched drive to SATA Booted Windows, it installed new hardware (disk?!) and it rebooted one last time. Drive is jumpered to master.
