ATI 9600 install problems

    I have a Dell Dimension 4550 that is about 4 years old. I tried to replace my old ATI 9500/97000 pro with a new ATI 9600 pro 256. I noticed the 9600 did not come with a power input unlike the 9700. I followed the directions in the very general information leaflet provided. Uninstalled the old drivers, signaled the computer the 9700 card was being pulled, unplugged the PC, plugged the ATI 9600 in. When starting the computer, I get no keyboard, or screen. What did i do wrong?
