Was just wondering if you were familiar w/ the dyndns.org dynamic address resolution program/service out there, no more worries about a dynamic IP. What's really nice about it is the price, Free! They offer up to 5 free hostname alias' as a free service to the Internet. You can learn about it here:

http://www.dyndns.org/

Your FTP address might be: tgeery.dyndns.org or tomg.dyndns.org or abitmirror.dyndns.org or whatever name you'd like, most client programs will resolve the address regardless, no matter what IP you currently have (I'm pretty sure). Go check it out, I thought it was very cool for them to do this, especially for a home user such as myself. Just thought I'd share it w/ you...

Perhaps I'm missing something here, (and I mean this in the strictest adherence to a sense of humor), but you're Network + Certified ( I hold an A+ Certification myself ), shouldn't you know about this stuff? :-p

Hoping you take this in the spirit offered,

What is Network+? It sounds like a lousy certification if you don't even know the inner workings of DNS.

I hate all these certifications costing money. I mean I can probably take all of them IF I HAD SOME MONEY... agh. </rant>

I do know about that stuff and I already use a Deerfield dynamic name hosting service... ergo the geerynet.d2g.com in my sig. I post the IP as well in the event that something happens to create problems with Deerfield...
