Automating CD conversion

Discussion in 'Apple' started by Steven Fisher, Nov 3, 2007.

  1. I'm looking for some ideas...

Twice a week, I post new episodes of a podcast.

    This involves:
    1. Changing iTunes to suitable rip settings, which is basically very low
    quality.
    2. Ripping the CD with the audio (multiple tracks) to a single iTunes
    track.
    3. Setting metadata for the track, such as title and date.
    4. Uploading it to my web server.
    5. Posting from Wordpress.
    6. Changing iTunes back to settings that don't brutalize music CDs.

This takes so much time that I fall behind, and then it takes even more
    time.

I am pretty sure I can automate the upload and the Wordpress posting,
but I'm at a loss to automate the CD extraction, the merge, and setting
all the metadata. Can anyone offer any ideas? Is this possible with
iTunes? I was looking through Automator, but didn't see a "extract audio
    from CD" option.
