bash shell

  1. I have a questions about the bash shell.

I created a .bash_profile to set up the path.
I added some personal directories to the path and when I open the
terminal the path is now set as I want it.

I just wonder if application that are not run from the terminal will
    benifit from the new path?

If I log in from the os x gui is the bash_profile executed somehow?

No, but the way to do this is you create a ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist
file with the desired settings for PATH and other environment variables.

    No. Try the using RCEnvironment:
