please can anyone give me advice:

I am buying new memory (2x 512mb) for the BD7II-RAID mainboard and there are so many to choose from..

they need to be DDR-DIMM PC2100 184-Pin DDR-PC266MHz I think, but should i choose ECC/CL 2.5 REG/UNBUFFERED/REGISTERED/NON-PARITY (?!)

what brand - corsair/twinmos/crucial?

thanks in advance for any help..

I can tell you, Samsung 333 ECC doesn't work, either in buffered or unbuffered versions.

I'm running Corsair CMX512-3200C2 just fine.

But OEM Samsung PC3200 most definitely works on BD7-II.

thanks for the advice :)

are all brands PC400MHz ram is backwardscompatible with the mainboard? is it better to have 1x1024 than 2x512?

thanks again for the response

Officially, the board is rated to run up to 2GB of PC2100 DDR. However, many here, as well as myself, have been successful running much faster memory on that board. My oldest son and I both have the BD7IIR boards and my younger son has the plain BD7II. The latter is running 1GB of generic PC2100 DDR. My older son has 1GB of OEM Samsung PC3200 which he got from my system when I installed 1GB of GEIL PC3200 DDR. All boards run perfectly stable at around 580 FSB giving about a 386MHz data rate for the RAM at a 3:4 ratio. That being said, my personal experience is that this board and perhaps most out there seem to run better with smaller sticks. This is apparent when I run only one 512MB stick as opposed to two of them. With one stick, I can run at a higher data rate much more stable than with two. Others here might know the reason why, but I've read where larger single sticks have more problems than multiple smaller capacity ones.
