Out of the blue my BE6 will not boot, nothing but a BIOS signal through the PC speaker. A 3 second tone then a 3 second break then the tone again. I have unplugged everything and it only stops when I unplug the CPU (a Intel Pentium III 500).

Any Ideas? TIA

Look for bulging capacitors.
If there are none, test the RAM with memtest86 in another PC.

Done, the RAM tests out fine, I have two sticks in this machine and has the same behavior with either stick inserted or no sticks inserted. The sticks work in another computer and test out ok with PC Pro a hardware testing program. The only thing I can do to make a difference is unplug the CPU.

some caps can be in a failed state and not show it in the form of bulging or leaking. other than reseating the video card and ram and CPU, I go with the caps as a high possibility.
