Hi,
Is there a reason why both of these boards do not detect a stick of 256 meg dimm? The manual claims it supports 256 meg sticks and they both have the latest version of the bios. The stick is PC133 with 8 chips on it.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^ There's your problem. Get a double-sided dimm. BX boards are limited to 128MB per bank, they require 256MB dimms that use "low-density" (16MB/128Mbit) chips, organized into two 128MB banks. Here are a few that will definitely work:Hi,

Only partly true.
You CAN use 256 low density RAM in each bank. Doing so in 2 BH6 systems.
The critical issue is low density vs. high density PC-133 RAM. Go to the web site of Crucial, Kensington, etc. You will find low density PC-133 RAM or PC 100 RAM which will properly work.
There have been a couple of hundred posts to this NG about high density RAM.

No, completely true.

RAM.I didn't say otherwise. You're confusing "bank" with "slot". As I said, the BX chipset is limited to 128MB per bank, NOT per slot. A "low density" 256MB dimm combines two 128MB banks on one dimm.
