I installed windows correctly and proceeded to update the BIOS. It
updated correctly, but when i restarted after the update it came to a
blank screen with "disk read error, press ctrl+alt+ el to restart" I
got into the bios utility and now it does recognize my CD drives or my
second SATA drive. Any suggestions as to how i can revert back to the
original BIOS or to make it so my BIOS recognizes all my drives again?
    please let me know. Thanks.

This happened to me too with the P18 update. I reset the BIOS to default
settings and everything was well again.

Restart the computer and get to the BIOS screen. Write down any settings of
particular importance to you. Look around for the "Load Optimal Defaults" or
"Load User Defaults" etc. and load one of them. Restart again and the BIOS
recognized my drives. Re-enter whatever settings you like.

IIRC, I also had to go back and redo the drive and boot configurations so
the computer would boot from my RAID'ed SATA drives.
