Ive just bought a IC7-Max3 motherboard...

How do I boot from my SCSI CD-Rom drive...??

No SCSI option is available in the Bios boot device selection...?!?

Simon

Dump the SCSI drive. You can get a very nice 52X LiteOn CDROM drive from Newegg for US$16.99.

In your motherboard bios, in Advanced bios features, set to "Boot other device". (Abit IC7-MAX3 Manual, page 3-8)

Then on your SCSI controller set the
SCSI CD-ROM as the boot device.

So, why do you want to boot from SCSI CD-ROM ?

well, I take it you have a SCSI card with a ROM bios that allows booting from CD? in the boot priority, you would need to set it to something like bootable add-in PCI card and then experiment around with the boot order, I guess. there is really no benefit to a SCSI cdrom drive and plenty of drawbacks.

I am running the KR7A-133, and I can boot from my CD Hard Drive by setting my boot sequence to floppy, cdrom, scsi. My SCSI card is an adaptec UltraWide with it's own bios. You will STILL have to put the CDROM SCSI drivers on your boot CD in order to continue booting (just like if you had an IDE cd drive).

On the other hand, if you have a spare 5.25" slot, a previous poster's suggestion to get an IDE cd drive is really the best answer. So much easier, so much cheaper, and I will guess it is a lot faster than your SCSI cd drive.

Cheers,

Billy
