brand new kd7a will POST but not boot

I just ordered a KD7A and Athlon2400+ from motherboards.com with 256 Mb of PC2700 RAM. The machine goes through POST OK, and brings up the LILO boot menu, but won't load Linux or Windows XP. The memory seems to be unstable. Linux stops with "out of memory," and Windows will spontaneously reboot (or freeze) at some point before the login menu. Booting from a CD also does not work.

I tried tweaking the memory voltage with no effect. I'm thinking the RAM might be bad. Any suggestions?

Can we assume that it remained stable long enough for you to load both Linux and XP on it?
