i have a Bx-133 Raid motherboard, and have recently purchased a 250gb western digital hardrive, my bios does not seem to support this even though ican get driver updates for windows 2000 from the abit site after i partition the drive and when i go to format it it says "volume to big" so i really need to update my bios i have tried the drivers for my ata-100 controller from www.highpoint-tech.com, but don't work unless i did not use or understand them correctly but it does say that "the drivers are for the use to highpoint pci controller cards and controller cards vuilt into mother boards should be sought from your motherboard manafacturer, so i am in a tricky situation any one got ne ideas

the IDE 1 & 2 controller will not support that size drive without some helper programs and/or partitioning. The Highpoint 370 controller *will* do 48 bit LBA which is what you need to have to support drives larger than 137 gig. to get 48 bit LBA for the Highpoint controller, you need to have 2.3x bios loaded into the Highpoint and matching drivers at the OS level.

I carry mainboard bios sets for the BX133 and BE6-II version 2.0 that has
2.32 and possibly 2.34 Highpoint bios on my server at the address below. look under /beta which is where I keep non-Abit released bios sets.

To the OP:

Also keep in mind that if you're using FAT32, Windows 2000 will NOT format a partition greater than 32GB. If that's the case then you'll need to either size your partitions accordingly or make 'em NTFS or alternatively, format them outside of Windows 2000 with a 98/ME boot disk.
