Can I resurect this IBM Thinkpad Type 2611-412

  1. I have a sleeping (or dead!) IBM Thinkpad Type 2611-412.

Its CD ROM subsystem works; I can play music CDs.

Upon starting, the hard disk spins but it does not even beep! I
opened it to check if the processor is powered: within halp a minute,
the CPU gets hot. So I conclude that it is powered (at least
    partially).

I noticed that there are several test points around the CPU. Does
anyone know if these can be used to decide whether it can be
    resurected without changing the motherboard.

Is there a news group that deals with laptop repair? Exceptionally,
    Google did not help!

    Thank you very much.

  2. groups.google.com helped... ;)

comp.sys.laptops might be what you want.
    Or uk.comp.sys.laptops, or comp.laptops, or...

    Good luck!
