Can RAM modules be damaged by motherboard?

I'm having some problems with my Averatec 5110P RAM modules, I tested
them with memtest-86 and several errors were found in both modules (I
    tested them separately).

I'm about to test with other module.

I'd like to know if it's posible that a laptop's mother board can cause
damages to the RAM modules if mother board (or something else) is
    defective?

I'm asking because I'm surprised that both of the modules have defects.

I don't want to fry someone else's module in my next test :)

    Thanks
