I recently got this thinkpad 1161-210 used or 2nd hand.

After it powers up and the ThinkPad logo showed on the screen, there is
a Lock icon on the upper left hand corner, together iwth a little square
which I dont know if it represents the computer or not. At the bottom it
says F1 to enter setup or F12 for temporary boot device.

I pressed F1 and it just sit there for 10-20 minutes. Nothing happened.
It wont go into CMOS or BIOS.

Is it "Locked" if so how do I unlock it ?? Thanks for any input and
    replies.

The lock icon indicates the power on password has been set. I suggest
you get the password from the previous owner.
