I transferred a lot of jpg files from my g4 laptop to my new imac G5.
The jpeg files show a generic jpeg icon in the preview column but on
the powerbook running 10.4.1 the preview shows a miniature version of
the file contents.icon preview is checked. This is really strange
because I can see the preview of the file content on three other macs
running 10.4.1. If I catalog the folder using spotlight, it shows the
contents of the file in its preview of each file. Other applications
that have a file open dialog also show the preview of the file . It is
only the finder that won't show the preview. I think the finder
previews are dependent on quicktime, it seems that the finder doesn't
know about this. Anyone know how to fix this or what is going on? TIA

It sounds too strange to be a configuration problem. The only suggestion
that I could offer you is to reinstall the system from scratch and see
    if that solves it.

is the right option turned on?

without it you won't allow previews showing.
