Chaintech 6600GT "SA6600G 128"

Discussion in 'Nvidia' started by Larry Roberts, Apr 28, 2005.

  1. Entergy has given a credit to it's customers here in Louisiana
that has resulted in my utility bill being paid in full this month. I
now have the cash to score a Chaintech 6600GT "SA6600G 128 " instead
of taking a chance on getting the 6200 card with the old 8 pipe NV43
chips, and unlocking all 8 pipes to get 6600 performance for cheaper.
With my luck, I'd get the new NV44A chip that has the deactivated
    pipes physically removed.
I read some reviews that seem to be good except that they all
say that the one bad thing about the card is that the memory heatsinks
don't touch the chips. I guess it's just for looks. Overclocking seems
to be limited. I was hoping to at least overclock the memory to
    1000Mhz from it's 900Mhz. Does anyone own the Chaintech "SA6600G 128"?
If so, and you overclocked it, did you need to mod the memory
    heatsinks?
