I've plugged my 40Gigs to the serillel adaptor (I've a cute NF7-S 1,2 , bios 20 recently updated, SATA driver 1.0.28) and after installing Win XP Pro on it, SP1 and nvidia 2.03 drivers i hear some "clocks" (yes, say "clock" and that's the sound!) They hang the PC at all....I've already low formatted the drive, thinking of a BAD SECTOR problem.... Nah! The same...after reinstallin everything. Can anyone help me? Thanks....:)

That is the sound of the head positioning solenoid beating its head against the case.

Doesn't seem to be a good piece of news...
D'ya think my HD's going to heaven or something like a software problem ? Like a driver conflict or something else ? It never happened before.... Thx for helping

What are the jumpers on the back of your HDD set for. Not slave mode, I hope. It sounds like it could be a drive geometry issue for which there are jumpers on the back of your hard drive.

Does the bios correctly report the size of your hard drive.

Good point SATA can be picky about the jumper setting ... ensure master if having problems. regards @ndrew

My settings are right....jumpers and so on....maybe it was a driver issue. I've installed the unofficial 3.44 nforce2 release and no more "clocks" until now (2 hours). I'm crossing fingers :)

Tick, Tock. Just hope it wasn't Hook's crock.
