com.apple.finder.plist trashed

  1. Dear csms:

I had a disturbing experience when my G4 had a kernel panic
yesterday. I rebooted; but when I logged in, the Finder's menu
bar was absent. The dock was there, but most applications
crashed soon after launching. Strangely, I was able to log in as
    another user without problems.

I looked in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter to see what had crashed
recently. The Finder was dying trying to read its own
preferences: com.apple.finder.plist! Other programs were dying
when reading it, too. Sure enough, the file had garbage at the
end. I trashed it and restarted, restoring normal operation.

    Any similar experiences?
