Compaq - USB pci card problem

    Compaq presario with Compaq 077 Ch board
    Oly had USB 1.1, so fitted pci card [2 usb] with front unit with 4usb 2. Made a mistake as fitted hardware so XP found it before running driver CD. Didn't work, so uninstalled , removed hardware, used system restore back to before all this, ran CD again, then fitted hardware and let XP complete installation as instructed in readme file. Now computer refuses to boot! Help! Can this board take the USB upgrade? Nigel
