Curious glitch with WMP and CD's

I have a Dell 2400 with XP Home SP1. I use Windows Media Player 9 to
play audio CD's. When an audio CD is inserted, WMP opens as it should, but
it doesn't begin with the 1st track. Instead, it will start with the 3, 4,
5 or whatever. I've tried different CD's and it never starts with track 1.
    Any ideas why?

PS, this question should more properly go to the WMP newsgroup, but I hardly
    ever get a response there.

Have you got your media player set on "random" or "shuffle" play?

Not sure. I just double-clicked the little shuffle icon near the
bottom, and now it says..."Turn shuffle on." Now CD's start playing at
track 1. Thanks for the tip.
