Dell 4550 lagging big time

    I am working on a Dell 4550 new hard drive and it took over 24 hours to formatt and put on reinstall XP.. but if I take that harddrive and put it in my gateway it boots up fast and is fine.. but not in its own tower.. any suggestions?? thanks..
